Why choose a Local Electrician near me who is a Member of a Competent Person Scheme?

A Competent Person Scheme (CPS) such as NAPIT or the NICEIC assesses their members and member companies on a yearly basis to ensure that they comply with their statutory requirements, which the member will pay a yearly subscription for - like CORGI for gas engineers, but for electricians. Pickwick Electric Co. as a local electrician near me, and member's of NAPIT, are required to have access to calibrated test equipment and the most recent technical standards. This means our work will have been tested with calibrated test equipment and installed to the latest regulations. Our office procedures are also audited each year by NAPIT.

Certifying electrical work

Electricians who are members of CPS’ are able to self-certify their work, which gives you, as the customer, peace of mind that the work has been carried out to high standards of both safety and competence. Here at Pickwick Electric Co. we are a member of NAPIT’s CPS scheme for Domestic Installers, as well as the Electrical Inspector Scheme (EIS) and Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) which allow us to install and test in dwellings, and furthermore, in commercial and industrial buildings.

Notifying your work to Building Control

It is not a legal requirement for electrical work to be carried out by a member of a CPS, however if the work is deemed to be notifiable under building regulations, then having a CPS registered electrician can help cut down on costs that the customer may incur otherwise. It can cost up to £500 to get building control to sign the work off if you choose to notify them yourself, instead of through your registered electrician’s CPS scheme.

Insured electrician

As a member of NAPIT we are required to have the appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurances, which, in the unlikely event a problem arises, gives you the reassurance that we are fully insured and that faults will be rectified.

Complaints procedure

In the unlikely event that you, as the customer, do not think that the work that has been carried out to the appropriate technical standards, a CPS can intervene to assist with getting the work rectified free of charge, giving you reassurance that there is an avenue if things go wrong.

We are a NAPIT CPS member so you can be assured that any work we do is fully compliant. If you are looking for an electrician in Bradford on Avon, Corsham, Chippenham, Devizes, Malmesbury, Melksham or Trowbridge, or the surrounding areas please get in touch.
